Getting pregnant is frequently not as easy as it seems to be. While there are a lot of things you can do to help raise your chances of pregnancy, such as improving your health and daily routines or experimenting with an alternative therapy, including aromatherapy, a natural aphrodisiac and herbs, not everybody is successful. Experiencing sterility issues can be difficult for any couple. The causes of sterility, although, can vary. Only 30% of cases are brought on by female factors. In another one third of cases, infertility is due to the male. The remaining cases are caused by a mixture of male and female factors or by unidentified factors. Many couples that have difficulty in conceiving naturally give preference to different fertility treatments to increase their chances of conception. One of the most popular methods of treatment taken to enhance fertility is Clomid. Clomid stimulates a woman's ovaries to mature a raised number of follicles every month. As Clomid raises the number of mature follicles in the ovaries, the medication also increases the probability of ovulation and conception. Clomid works by acting on different receptors in the body that regulate hormone production and release. Particularly, Clomid works by increasing the amount of 3 hormones involved in the ovulation, such as gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). The drug makes the human body believe that it has low levels of estrogen. As a result, the brain begins to release increased levels of GnRH, which, in turn, stimulates the release of FSH and LH. The hormones then bring on the ovaries to begin to mature more follicles. Clomid is generally prescribed for couples experiencing female infertility, such as: - anovulation - PCOS - irregular menstrual periods Clomid is taken orally on specific days of the menstrual cycle. Mostly, Clomid side effects are mild and not very troublesome. However, at high doses females may have mood swings, nausea and vomiting, breast tenderness, headaches, fatigue. In general, Clomid is a very effective drug for most women having ovulatory dysfunction. According to the clinical studies, 70% - 90% of females taking Clomid begin to ovulate within the first 3 cycles. In addition, 40% of couples become pregnant during the first three menstrual cycles.
